Afternoon at mom's

So I prepped my mom and told her that I wouldn't be eating the trail mix or cinnamon rolls that I knew she had left over, so she didn't even get the trail mix out and the cinnamon rolls weren't that much of a temptation. So I'm glad about that, but instead I'm fighting my urges to simply eat everything in sight or make myself another one to three or five more pb&j sandwiches to fill my emotional need. So I've noticed that I've been doing a lot of negative self talk since I can't self medicate myself with food. I'm chewing my last peace of gum right now. I am not going to buy more gum, because I feel that it increases my hunger instead of only giving me chewing satisfaction. I should have given it to my son Kyler who just loves to chew gum.

Kyler says, "Er-cise"

I was watching The Biggest Looser yesterday and Kyler came over to me. He was holding a toy in each hand and started to do lunges and said, "Er-cise, Er-cise, Er-cise" while doing lunges the whole time. I immediately cracked up. What a little cutie. He knows that mommy exercises all the time and was possibly copying what they were doing on the TV too.

MAKING IT STICK

I need to make this a life long habbit. So I am going to exercise 30 days in a row. I know everyone says it only takes 21 days for it to become a habbit, but I think 30 sounds like a more round number.

One of the things that gets under my skin more than anything elese is waking up to whinning babies. My baby is almost 9 months now and he's still waking up at 5 a.m. I don't understand why he keeps reverting back to waking up in the middle of the night. Well at this point I just don't get him up. My subconsious must know how long he cries, but I'm sure I fall asleep before he's done crying. When my alarm goes off I wake up in the most cranky mood if I've woken up at all through the night.

Needless to say this happened last night. It took me an hour to get over this grumpy mood and get my but out of bed and onto that treadmill...but I did it. So far I'm stiking to my diet, but today is the day when I go upstairs and visit my mom for lunch with the girls. My mom eats kind of healthy, but there are certain things she always has on hand that I'd rather not be tempted with. One of them being a trail mix. (It's the peanut thing. Why am I so addicted to anything peanut?) Some of you might say "I thought peanuts are good for you." Oh, ho ho, but they're not. They are a fungus and high in one of the worst oils you could eat.

The Biggest Looser

I have been so inspired by the show, "The Biggest Looser" so many times that I can't even count. I AM READY to make the commitment to ultimate health. This includes:

1. Exercise before the kids get up (before 7:30 a.m.).
2. Go to bed by 10:30 p.m. every night.
3. Never eat after 8 p.m.
4. Never eat anything that is unhealthy (IE. no candy, pop, cake, refined, processed, junk).
5. Never touch another drop of Peanut Butter again. This is my Achilles heal. This is one of the things that is keeping me FAT, and I will not give into this FAT TRAP anymore.
6. Find ways to deal with my depression and anxiety and emotional eating, so it never causes me to go back to the way I was.
7. Tell myself every day, "I DESERVE TO HAVE THE BEST HEALTH POSSIBLE".
8. Drink my body weight divided by 2 in ounces of water daily.

Well, I guess that has to be all for now since it's 10:35 p.m.

TO BED BY 10:30 p.m.

My mini-goal of going to bed by 10:30 p.m. isn't going so well. I think I would have been ok if I hadn't gotten into reading the "Twilight Series" of books. At first I tried to avoid watching the movie so I wouldn't have to read the books. But everyone I know had seen it and raved about how much they loved the book, so I finally caved and watched the movie. So last night I finished the 2nd of 4 books. It's really pathetic...I ignore my chores and the kids when I get into a book this deep. I've just requested the 3rd installment in the series and so I need to hurry and catch up on my motherly duties before I get the email saying it's available. My husband has no intention of reading the books, but enjoyed the movie, and I pointed something out to him the other day as I was reading the book. It said she was listening to her portable cd player. I was like, "wow KJ, that sure dates this book," and then laughed and said, "technology is moving along so quickly these days. It seems like just yesterday when I bought my first portable cd player." He laughed and agreed. I converted to a mp3 player about 4 years ago, and have had my iPod since Christmas 2007.

Ok, to recap, I'm blaming Twilight on my non ablity to get to bed by 10:30 p.m. I am going to continue attempting to do this for 6 days in a row untill I get it right.

Only Running Every Other Day

Through my little experience in running I've finally come to the realization that my body cannot handle me running 6 days per week. I've started to feel minor knee pains and aches. I also am realizing the GREAT IMPORTANCE of STRETCHING. I was only on the Treadmill for 10 minutes yesterday but can tell it was DUMB for me not stretching. I feel achy all throughout my legs.

One good thing is that I can deffinitely tell a difference in my physical fitness. This may sound kind of dumb, but simply getting up and off the couch use to make my heart race. I can tell that my heart pumps so much more efficiently now.

Mini-Challenge Update

Since April 1st I have only skipped one day of exercising. I had started my dot and was cramping majorly. I know, I know, TMI. I also have not been getting up at 6:30 a.m. to exercise like I've wanted to. We are currently on our STAY-CATION and since there's no work to get up for we've been staying up too late and then sleeping in. I'm going to make that another mini-goal...to go to bed and be going to sleep by 10:30 p.m. every night.

Since Kisha lives with her dad we were able to celebrate her birthday yesterday. Because I practice proper food combining and for dinner we had BBQ Chicken Salad I was not suppose to have any cake (don't combine a starch and a protein)...I'm admitting it was very hard, and I whined a bit. I'll also admit that when I put the frosting on the cake I licked my fingers. When I'm trying to be really strict I try to not lick my fingers, but because of how many kids I have and making all of those PB&J sandwiches it makes for a lot of hand washing to prevent yourself from licking your fingers. I know it seems like a little thing until you are consciously paying attention to how often you lick your fingers while your cooking or making any kind of food...or maybe it's just me.

So along with my workout this morning (ok it was really at 11 a.m.) we went to Classic Roller Skating, and I actually skated. After about an hour my feet started to hurt, but I didn't fall! It did take a few minutes to feel like I had my ballance and wasn't in danger of falling.

Ok, so you may or may not know that KJ, the kids, and I had planned to drive to Tennessee to see KJ's Dad and Step mom for Spring Break. Well this storm that is coming is supose to hit really hard right when we would have been leaving town, and it's suppose to stretch all the way across I80 through Wyoming where we would have been traveling. So instead we have decided to stay home. I have been looking and searching and asking people for ideas of things we can do. These activities need to be kid friendly and cost effective. So far we have come up with the following list...

1. Bowling (on Tuesdays will cost $10.25)
2. Miniture Golf ($20)
3. Bounce Play & Pirates Cove @ Classic Roller Skating ($32)
4. Layton Surf & Swim (Weds. Dollar night $14)
5. Childrens Museum (FREE on Friday April 17th)
6. So. Davis Rec Center ($19.50)
7. Skating at Classic Roller Skating ($16=Thursday dollar night + $5 tokens)

PEER TRAINER

My last post was mainly about my husband. Mainly because he was the one who wanted to experience his weight loss journey through a blog that all of our friends and family could experience with us. I've slipped here and there (obviously since I've gained some of it back), but whenever I've rededicated myself to loosing the weight recently I use this web site called Peer Trainer. It's exactly what it says...you use support from your peers to remain accountable to whatever weight loss goals you make for yourself. There are small groups of 2-4 people for a more intimate conversations, or you can join larger Team of 2-99 people. I was usually one of the most talkative people who would post questions, or just try to get people talking. Some groups were great, some would be ok for a while and then would fizzle out. On this site there are places to post what you ate for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It also had places for goals, weather you worked out each day, and any notes or comments you have. Along with doing this blog I've been thinking about opening a new Team on Peer Trainer with anyone who wanted to join. I'll be inviting friends and family of Sheila. Most will be people who live in Utah, but some wont. If you find you like this web site and want to invite some of your friends and family you are more than welcome to. Regardless if you want to join me in this or not...

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!

DEDICATION TO WEIGHT LOSS

My husband came home yesterday and was acting kind of weird. He was asking me some questions like...how hard is it to set up a blog? how long does it take? would you show me how to do it? He wouldn't tell me exactly why he was asking these questions, but he said it was a good thing, and that I would like it. He was so excited, and his excitement was intoxicating. He finally told me he wanted to start a weight loss blog and that I could do one if I wanted to.

You may or may not know that KJ was diagnosed with Diabetes about 2 years ago. From the beginning I urged him to eat a whole lot healthier and exercise. Well, he has lost some weight recently after the birth of our third son, Gavin along with me. But without our constant dedication to eating healthy and exercise we have both gained some of that back. After the birth of my son I weighed 209. I currently weight 186, so I'm still down 23 lbs from 2 weeks post pregnancy. I have put links back to our family blog along with KJ's weight loss blog. So please read our posts and provide us encouragement, because we want to do this for our health, our quality of life, each other, and for our children.
